For those of you interersted, I was interviewed by the Great North Pagan Podcast recently for my work with healing crystals and as a part of their goal to interview members of different pagan faiths, with me service the role of a member of the Druid faith.

Letters to the Editor
Every so often, I read a Letter to the Editor in my local paper that just forces me to send a response. I found such a letter today. You can find the original letter here, however it will eventually be moved to the paid archives, so here is the letter re-posted on this blog:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The recent attempt by two gays to get a marriage license is ridiculous. “Gay marriage” is a total contradiction and a distortion of the meaning of the word “marriage.”
For thousands of years, in all the world’s cultures, the word marriage has meant the union of a man and a woman. It is absurd to try to hijack the word and apply it to some other human relationship. It is an insult to the majority of us who believe in the sacred meaning of the word marriage.
The union of two gays or two lesbians can never be exactly the same as a heterosexual union because it is physically impossible and an aberration of nature, and not suited for procreation as nature intended.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To this I responded as follows:

In Arnold Jordheim’s March 11th letter entitle “Gay ‘marriage’ is not marriage”, he claims that “The union of two gays or two lesbians can never be exactly the same as a heterosexual union because it is physically impossible and an aberration of nature, and not suited for procreation as nature intended.”
What Arnold fails to understand that marriage is not an act of nature, but rather a social contract that two people enter into. If marriage occurred in nature, then other species would enter into such contracts. It would also be apply to everyone as a biological function, similar to birth, growth, puberty and death.
Arnold also argues that “It is an insult to the majority of us who believe in the sacred meaning of the word marriage.” This argument is mainly a religious one; something that government should be separate from. Many religions today, most often those defined as Pagan, support, honor and view marriages between a male and female, male and a male or a female and a female as being the same, for love is love. Should the members of these often times minority religions bow to the wishes of the Abrahamic religions simply due to numbers?
Those who find themselves in homosexual relationships wants the same rights as guaranteed to those in heterosexual marriages as given by law. This does not mean that the Catholic Church, or any church for that matter, needs to recognize these social contracts. However, under the separation of church and state as mentioned in the US Constitution and clarified by the one of the constitution’s primary authors Thomas Jefferson in his letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802, a secular state should and must to honor that separation if they are to separate themselves from the Church and to honor all religions, faiths, beliefs and spiritualties practiced by consenting adults in the United States of America.

Full Circle
Currently, on Yahoo! News, there is an article on how the NYPD monitored Muslims throughout most of the North East (which is well outside of their Jursdiction).
You can read it here, and while you are there, read some of the comments. NOTE: They are very biggoted, so if you are sensative, I would avoid skipping the comments.
NYPD monitored Muslim students all over Northeast
One of the points that I find ironic, is the claims by Christains that Muslims want to wipe every other religion off of the planet so they are the only (and in some comments, mandentory) faith of the land.
I have known some Muslin's in my past, and some that I have known that I am Pagan (Wiccan at the time), and they were happy that I found faith, regardless of the label of it. I have never known a Fundamentalist Muslim personally.
Part of me, as a Pagan, wants to respond to the comments that "Karma's a bitch, isn't it?" The Christians making these claims are the kind that see the world in Black & White, they are either the Kings of the World (pun not intended) or the smallest minority having to fight for every "right" they claim are under file.
But then I hold my tounge and thought on it. Back when the inquisiton was in full force, as a member of one of the revivals of the faiths on the perscuted side of those attrocious acts, a word that everything is going to be ok would be a Godsend.
As a Druid, I do not call corners as a Wiccan would, however I do proclaim peace in the four corners/cardnial direction. It would be very contradictory to mock others when I proclaim peace in the World as I set up my grove.
However, the hatred and venom from those who claim to be Christian cannot but hurt me. Claiming to speak for all when they clammor for genocide of an entire people, regardless of their beleifs.
It makes me sad to see such hatred in the world.
It makes me determined to counteract such hatred.
It makes me dream of a world where all are loved and welcomed.

AODA Candidate
I am sorry for the lack of updates, I have been very busy in January, but now that is done I find that I have more time.
The biggest thing that I have done is I have submitted by candidacy for the Acident Order of Druids in America on February 4th.
While Imbloc is traditionally celebrated on February 2rd, this year the astrological cross quarter date between Alban Arthuan (Yule) and Albal Eiler (Spring Equinox) was on February 4th, so I could waited until this date to begin my year and a day candidacy for the AODA.
For this I have created a blog detailing my work on the Sun, Earth and Moon path, which you can read here:
AODA Candidate Path
As I work on the paths, I will post updates, including my meditation and healing work, and will label each post with one of the three paths that it covers.
If you would like to join me, please feel free to do so as I start down this wonderful path.
